After an 18-year wait, the Bengaluru Development Authority has finally begun allotting land to farmers, thanks to a resolution by the Chief Minister addressing long-standing compensation issues. The Dr K Shivaram Karanth Layout project faced extensive delays, but as a positive move, farmers will now receive 40% of developed land for each acre acquired. In addition, the Chief Minister has introduced a statewide teak plantation initiative.
